On behalf of the Governors and staff, I would like to welcome you to Alban Church of
England Academy. I hope you find our website helpful in providing you with
an introduction to some of the aims and values that we work to promote and gives you
a flavour of life at Alban.
We were delighted that the achievements of pupils, staff and governors were
recognised by the OfSTED inspection team in January 2008 who identified Alban as
an “outstanding” school. We intend to build on our many achievements and continue
to go from strength to strength.
On 1st April, 2011 Alban became one of the first Voluntary Aided schools to obtain Academy status. This means that we are no longer maintained by the Local Authority and can look forward to a secure and successful future.
Alban is a dynamic and vibrant community, full of energy and enthusiasm. Our aim is
to provide challenging and enjoyable learning experiences in a friendly and supportive Christian environment.
We believe that education succeeds in an atmosphere of encouragement and high
expectations. Our strength is to create opportunities for the success of all our children
through the quality of our curriculum, the dedication of our staff and the care we have
for the children. We believe that every child matters.
We aspire to achieve this through our belief that education is a partnership in which
pupils, parents, staff and governors play a vital part.
We look forward to working closely with you to provide a happy and successful
education for your child. I hope our website will provide you with an insight into the
curriculum and the experiences we offer. A visit to the academy can help to complete the
picture. We will always be happy to see you.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Lorraine Dougall
Headteacher
